CareHood

FAQ

What is CareHood?

CareHood is a platform for caregivers and their loved ones to learn what has helped others in similar situations.

Who can create a CareHood?

Any caregiver or patient who would like to get their family, friends and/or community involved in the helping process for any reason.

Who can see a CareHood?

At the present time, CareHood is an open platform and your CareHood is publicly available. However, we are busy working on our privacy settings that will be available ASAP.

Is CareHood free?

Yes, CareHood is free to both the patient and the caregiver and friends and family that wish to sign up for a task. Should they wish to purchase a gift or service, that is taken care of via PayPal.

Paypal does not take any fees when making a payment from one PayPal account to another, unless you are using a credit card – in which case credit card fees apply. CareHood does not take any fee in addition to the PayPal fees.

How are gifts provided through CareHood?

Initially, gifts are provided by transferring funds via PayPal and are deposited directly into your PayPal account. In the near future we will be directly connecting to gifts and service providers.

Questions for Friends, Family Members & Community

How do I give a gift or do a task for someone I know?

It’s simple! Once you receive a link to the CareHood, you can sign up for a task or give a gift to them in just a couple of clicks.

If your friend or family member hasn’t yet signed up for a CareHood, they can do so on our homepage under Open a CareHood.

If you have forgotten your password, please email us at info@carehood.co and we will get back to you ASAP.

As a gifter, how will my friend or family member receive my gift?

Your gift amount will be directly transferred to their PayPal account.

How are tasks taken care of?

When you are at the Calendar, click on the task you would like to help with and enter your name as a Volunteer.

Can I just buy a gift if I’m not close with the person?

Sure! However, you do need to have been invited to their CareHood account.

Do I have to create an account to get a gift or sign up for a task?

Questions for caregiver and/or patient

How can I figure out what I need?

This is the magic of CareHood. We have interviewed patients and caregivers to learn what has been helpful to them – and you will find these as suggestions within the CarePackage that you create. You can add additional gifts, services, tasks and errands to your CareHood on either the CarePackage or the Calendar if you don’t already find what you need there.

If there is something you know is especially helpful, we’d love to know so that we can include it for others! Please email us at info@carehood.co.

How is our privacy protected?

At the present time, CareHood is an open platform and your CareHood is publicly available. However, your CareHood is only accessible through the link – and you cannot find it simply by searching on Google. Therefore, if you are only sharing your CareHood via email – only those people with the link will be able to view your CareHood.

Additionally, we do not collect any financial information, as all transactions are facilitated through PayPal.

We are busy working on our privacy settings that will be available ASAP.

If my illness or situation isn’t listed, can I still use CareHood?

Yes – you can select Other and continue with the process of building a CareHood tailored to your needs. In the future we will add more specialized situations as our platform grows.

I don’t know everything I need now. Can I add things later?

You can constantly update and edit CareHood with your ongoing needs. Just click on Edit CarePackage on the Admin view of your CareHood, and it will bring you through the steps to add or delete needs in each step.

What if I’m under 18 years old? Can I still use CareHood?

Sure, but you will need a parent or guardian to open a CareHood for you.

What are my options on withdrawing my funds from CareHood?

In order to withdraw funds from CareHood, you must have a PayPal account. When someone purchases a gift via CareHood the money is automatically deposited into your PayPal account.

Can we use CareHood without a PayPal account?

In order for you to receive gifts you must use a PayPal account. However, you can coordinate tasks without using a PayPal account.

Where can I see all the gifts my CareHood has received?

You can view all gifts that you have received under your “Gift List” which is found on the Admin View of your CareHood.

Where do I add dates and times to the task I need assistance with? Can I edit them later or add more?

To add additional information to the tasks on your CareHood, go to the Calendar section of Step 2 in the Edit mode. There you can click on “Add Task” and add all necessary information for someone to know before signing up and taking care of that task.

You can edit that task at any time.

Can my religious institution or organization organize CareHoods for their members?

Yes! We built CareHood to help both individuals and groups support their friends, family and community. An administrator from a community organization can set up a CareHood for multiple members of their community and manage them from the same account.

However, a PayPal account will need to be set up for each individual CareHood and be connected to their account.

I’ve never coordinated someone else’s care or needs before. How do I get started?

It’s simple – and this is why we built CareHood. To get started, sign up and you will be directed through a short wizard that will help.

Can more than one person be the administrator of a CareHood?

At the present time, only one person can be the administrator of a CareHood – however, we are working on this for the future.
