10 foods that fight cancer cells to incorporate in your diet

The link between cancer and diet has been studied extensively. While studies have yet to prove that certain foods fight cancer outreach, many foods have nutrients and properties that have been associated with targeting cancer cells, strengthening cancer-fighting cells and reducing tumor growth. Whether you’re healthy, recently diagnosed, in treatment, or recovery, we recommend adding each of these foods to your regular diet.

1. Tomatoes

2. Broccoli

Cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, kale and the like, are filled with cancer-fighting properties. They contain glucosinolates, a compound that contains sulfur, which break down during food preparation, chewing and digestion and have blocked the development of cancer in certain mice organsHowever, only broccoli contains a substantial amount of the compound sulforaphane, which boosts the body’s protective enzymes and flushes out cancer-causing chemicals. A study conducted at the University of Michigan on mice showed that sulforaphane targets the cells responsible for tumor growth, cancer stem cells.

3. Garlic

Garlic contains chemicals that have been associated with stopping the development of carcinogens found in the stomach. A study conducted by the Iowa Women’s Health found that women who consumed the highest amount of garlic had a 50% lower risk of certain colon cancers, compared to women who ate less garlic. garlicFrench scientist even found that increased garlic consumption was correlated with significant reduction in risk for breast cancer. 

4. Carrots

Beta carotene, which is found at very high levels in carrots, has been linked with reducing risk and cancer cell growth in a variety of cancers. However, recently, scientists have warned that consuming extremely high levels of beta carotene might actually be dangerous – so don’t go crazy with the carrots! Another substance found in carrots, falcarinol, has been found to reduce the risk of cancer because it inhibits cancer cell growth. But its cancer-killing properties only work if carrots are eaten uncooked.

5 .Beans

As a general rule, many scientists and health experts agree that a diet rich in legumes increases the fatty acid butyrate beans: a food that fights cancer cellslevel, which has protective effects against cancer growth. A study published in Crop Science journal found that dried beans were related to breast cancer prevention in a rat sample.

6. Flax

Flax, principally flax seeds, have gained popularity in the past few years and have often been listed in the healthiest foods category of many publications. Flax contains lignans – a type of hormone estrogen for plants – which have an antioxidant effect and can block cancerous changes, at least for cancers that depend on hormones to grow. Because flax is very high in omega-3 fatty acids, there are reasons to think that it has a protective effect against colon cancer and heart disease. Meanwhile, antioxidants protect cells from the consequences of aging. A study even found that women who had gone through menopause and consumed half a teaspoon of flax seeds every day reduced their risk of breast cancer.

7. Grapes

And their ellagic acid slows down the growth of tumors.

8. Soy products

With the introduction of soy milk in most coffee shops as a healthy alternative to dairy milk, soy products have also been on the rise in the past few years. However, many are beginning to question the true effects of greater consumption of soy product – some have found soy to have negative consequences on hormone balance that could stimulate cancer growth.

Even so, it would require consuming extremely high amounts of soy to get to that point, so you can likely continue to enjoy soy without worrying. Soy contains genistein, which inhibits the development of new blood vessels. It also blocks the growth and spread of cancerous cells. It appears to lower breast-cancer risk by inhibiting the growth of epithelial cells. The low breast cancer mortality rates in Asian countries has led some to the conclusion that soy food intake generally reduces breast cancer risk. 

9. Cumin

The bright yellow spice principally found in Asia and the Middle East has incredible anti-inflammatory effects which gives it the ability to fight cancer development. As a biochemist from the University of Texas stated, “most diseases are caused by chronic inflammation over long periods of time” and studies have found that curcumin interfered with cuminthe transportation and proliferation of cancerous cells. 10. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are versatile, extremely nutritious and among the cheapest foods on the planet! And due to their complex nature, they contain many anti-cancer properties. For example, they are high in beta-carotene, which as talked about before, protects cells from cancer-causing chemicals. Sweet potatoes also contain a very unique protein, ipomoein, that has potent anti-cancer effects.
